Assessing Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of Tourism Sites Contingent on Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park – A Protected Area in the Philippines

Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park is a significant protected area in the Philippines. Its diverse flora, fauna, and stunning landscapes attract numerous tourists. This study identified 38 tourism sites dependent on Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park. Evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats is vital for planning sustainable tourism activities within and around the protected area. Key Informant Interviews with Tourism Officers and City/Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices revealed nine strengths, six weaknesses, nine opportunities, and six threats. The number of strengths indicates the significant potential of Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park tourism sites. The number of identified opportunities surpasses the number of threats. This signifies more avenues for growth and development than challenges, indicating the potential for positive progress and success in sustaining the tourism sites contingent on Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park. With careful planning, proactive management, and collaboration, these opportunities can be harnessed to overcome the identified weaknesses and threats, leading to a more resilient and thriving regional tourism industry.
